Winter Clove Inn & Resort is located on over 300 private acres at the base of North Mountain and directly borders the 700,000 acre Catskill State Wilderness Preserve. Winter Clove Inn & Resort offers over 15 miles of hiking trails accessible directly from our front door plus we are only a short drive from some of the most iconic Catskill Mountain hiking trails.

- Rip’s Rock – An onsite hike that is just under 5 miles round trip and offers some of the best views of the Hudson River Valley.
- Venus Bath – A short onsite hike that is 1 mile round trip and follows the Winter Clove Brook with several small waterfalls and cascades.
- Hunter Mountain Fire Tower – A 25 minute drive to the trail head followed by a 6 mile round trip hike that leads to a decommissioned fire tower offering panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains.
- Mountain House Overlook – A 25 minute drive to the trail head followed by an under 1 mile hike/walk to an overlook offering views of the Hudson Valley.
The Catskill Mountains are home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls on the east coast. Here are some of the must-see waterfalls on your next Catskills family vacation.
- Kaaterskill Falls – The gem of The Catskills. Located 20 minutes from the resort with a variety of viewing and hiking options this is one of the tallest waterfalls on the east coast.
- Artist Falls – Located on the grounds of Winter Clove Inn & Resort this 30 foot waterfalls features a covered bridge directly above the falls.
- Platekill Falls – Located 30 minutes from Winter Clove this Catskill Mountain Waterfalls plunges over 65’ and is an easy hike from the parking area.

While Winter Clove has its own 9-hole course there are several 18-hole courses with-in 25 minutes of the resort.
- Thunderheart Country Club – 6,482 yards, par 72, views of The Catskills, water/sand hazards throughout. 22 minutes from the resort.
- Christmans Windham – 7,150 yards, par 72, USGA rated, and several views of the Catskill Mountains. 30 minutes form the resort.
- Island Green – 6,283 yards, par 73, the only island green in The Catskills. 30 minute drive from the resort.
- Windham Country Club – 6,333 yards, par 72, scenic views. 25 minute drive from the resort.

- Horseback Riding – Connect with nature and a time past. Multiple ranches within 20 minutes of the resort but we recommend K&K Equestrian, which is a 20 minute drive from the resort.
- Paddling – Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand-up: There is something for everyone, with lakes, streams, and rivers all within 25 minutes and multiple rental locations available.
Arts, Music, Culture in the Catskill Mountains

- Saugerties – Located 20 minutes from Winter Clove, Saugerties has a lively downtown with antique shops, galleries, and cafes.

- Woodstock – Yup, that Woodstock. Although not where either festival occurred, they were named for this nearby town that now serves as a “hippy paradise”. Arts stores and galleries galore with great food and drink at every stop.
