The Catskills are a great place to visit during the winter months. Downhill skiing is available at nearby Windham Mountain Club and Hunter Mountain Resort, while Winter Clove Inn offers cross-country skiing on site. The towns of Catskill, Saugerties, and Hudson are nearby with vibrant and lively main streets all year long. Plus, there is still plenty to do at Winter Clove Inn with the indoor pool, bowling alley, bonfires, game room, bar, and more.
While it is impossible to predict exactly and peak color varies slightly from year to year, we generally recommend visiting in mid-October for the best chance to experience peak fall foliage in the Catskills. Located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, Winter Clove Inn is one of the best fall foliage resorts in Upstate New York. Surrounded by thousands of acres of undisturbed nature, our mountain setting offers spectacular autumn scenery and one of the longest foliage seasons in the region. Because leaves at the higher elevations in the mountains behind the resort begin changing before those directly around the resort, guests often enjoy beautiful fall colors over an extended period.
Winter Clove Inn is conveniently located within 15-45 minutes of many of the Catskills’ most popular attractions, including Kaaterskill Falls, North-South Lake, Hunter Mountain, Windham Mountain Club, Hudson, Woodstock, Olana State Historic Site, Thomas Cole National Historic Site, Mountain Top Arboretum, and the Hudson River Skywalk. Whether you’re interested in hiking, waterfalls, scenic drives, shopping, art, or family-friendly activities, there are countless things to do within a short drive of our historic Catskill Mountain resort.
The Catskill Mountains are home to many charming small towns, each offering its own unique character and attractions. Some of our favorite nearby towns include Hudson, known for its antique shops, art galleries, and excellent dining; Tannersville, the colorful “Painted Village in the Sky” with local boutiques and mountain charm; Woodstock, famous for its arts community, live music, and eclectic shops; and Catskill, a picturesque Hudson River village with historic architecture, main street shops, and waterfront parks. Whether you’re interested in shopping, art, history, scenic views, or simply strolling through a quaint Main Street, these Catskills towns make wonderful day trips during your stay at Winter Clove Inn.
Browse the antique shops, bookstores, art galleries, and restaurants in nearby Hudson, Saugerties, or Catskill. Visit a local brewery, winery, or coffee shop, and explore the exhibits at local museums like the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Of course, some of our guests’ favorite rainy-day memories happen right here at Winter Clove Inn. Take a swim in our indoor pool, enjoy a game of bowling, relax with a book on our front porch, play board games with family and friends, or simply unwind and enjoy the slower pace that a rainy day in the Catskill Mountains provides.
